<li><strong>You can be self employed:</strong> This is a  prospect that is increasingly being denied to other health care providers such as optometrists and even General Practitioners . Big Business controls a lot of health practices. Consider how often you see an independent optometrist these days – can they compete on price with the multinational chains?</li>
<li><strong>Legal Issues:</strong> In Australia (unlike the USA where things are very different), podiatrists very, very rarely  get sued . The nature of podiatry practice does not lend itself to accidentally harming one’s patients. Also, you never have to give your  clients  the bad news that their condition will be terminal.</li>
<li><strong>Working Hours:</strong> Emergency call outs are very unlikely. This is  welcome news  for those among us who like their sleep uninterrupted.</li>
<li><strong>Financial Reward:</strong> Whilst it is true that podiatry doesn’t pay as well as being a  dentist or medical practitioner, the  salary is generally commensurate with other allied health providers.</li>
<li><strong>Instant Gratification:</strong> One of the  most rewarding   aspects of   a career as a podiatrist is the instant gratification! People come in with pain and leave happy. You will see  a plethora of bite-sized jobs each day, many with a cure you can provide immediately. From someone that has worked with unanimously grumpy customers in a past career, believe me when I tell you, it makes the day much more pleasant  when people leave you smiling.</li>
<li><strong>Philanthropy:</strong> Podiatry will  allow  you  a great deal  of opportunity to help  resolve the suffering of your fellow human beings.</li>
<li><strong>Self – Determination:</strong> Podiatry affords  a practitioner  the power to determine their own course of action for the benefit of their patients. This is unlike a career in nursing for instance  where one acts  under the direction  of a doctor.</li>
<li><strong>Clear Job roles:</strong> The only people who can work as a  podiatrist are those with a podiatry  qualification. The clear roles that this defines  relieves the requirement  to find your ‘niche’ after university - as someone with a more generic Bachelor of Science degree might need to do.</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The common question heard when purchasing a new projector for the home, office, or classroom is: would I buy an LCD projector or a DLP projector? LCD, an acronym for ‘liquid crystal device’ and DLP, an acronym for ‘digital light processing’ are the two most common projector imaging technologies. With so many brands and models available, it can be challenging for clients to decide between both technologies. The fact is that LCD projectors give superior image quality and colour accuracy. The article below tells you why DLP projectors struggle with reproducing the same grade of image quality.</p>
<p>Visualise a set of blinds in your household covering your bedroom window. By pulling on a rod you can make the shutters open or closed, according to if you want to let light in or not. Such is exactly how an LCD projector operates. Each pixel operates like its own shutter on a set of blinds to either shine light through or to block it. DLP on the other hand is created of millions of microscopic mirrors or ‘pixel elements’ as pros like to call them. Each pixel element functions to either reflect light or block it.</p>
<p>How the light source is processed from the point when the projector is switched on to when the content reaches your screen is extremely important with regard to image quality, brightness and colour accuracy. LCD projectors process white light from the lamp by cutting it into red, blue and green components, by three mirrors which project the coloured light to 3 individual LCD panels. The 3 LCD panels form the elements of the image by processing each pixel on and off. The pixels are then simultaneously processed in a glass prism to form the projector image. A significant point to understad about LCD projectors is that all three colours are sent onto your screen all at the same time. The way a DLP projector functions is totally different and even the final product of how an image comes out is not the same. With DLP, white light from the lamp is processed through a spinning colour wheel with transparent red, blue and green segments, at speeds up to 11,000 rpm/s. This approach to projecting an image forms a sequence of red, blue and green light. The millions of micro mirrors as mentioned above reflect the coloured light on the pixels to form the image elements. The elements of the image are cast in sequence on the screen, one colour at a time. The viewer&#8217;s eye will then pull together each coloured element of the image into the full image. From LCD projectors, all colours are available all the time to offer top brightness and great colour accuracy. In DLP, only one colour is available at once, and so resulting in lower colour brightness and accuracy. Some DLP developers have placed a white segment for the colour wheel to improve general brightness, but this further lessens colour accuracy.</p>
<p>I find in forums all the time that DLP gives a higher contrast ratio and thus must be superior. For those who do not know, the contrast ratio is a measure of a display system defined as the ratio of the luminance of the brightest white to that of the darkest black that the machine is able to produce. DLP projectors do have high contrast specifications when compared to most LCD projectors. At a glance, this can seem to be a benefit, however, in reality, the true black level is determined by the ambient light in the room in which the projector is being utilised. Do not be duped by contrast specifications on websites and in brochures.</p>
<p>When the content you want to bring to life needs moving images, DLP projection technology also has image imperfections, or ‘artifacts’. The most typical artifact that a DLP projector forms with moving images is colour break up. Colour break up is to be expected in DLP systems because moving images change position between the time red, blue and green colours are shone. LCD projectors do not have this downside because every colour is sent simultaneously. DLP builders have created 3DLP solutions using 3 chips to resolve the colour break up artifacts, but the expense of these projectors make them impractical for most businesses and consumers.</p>
<p>Another differentiation between LCD and DLP is how they compensate for the refractive qualities of light. Take yourself back to high school science, and recall how the various colours of light refract varied amounts when passing through the same lens. The disadvantage with DLP projectors is that they utilise the one same panel for the same lens to project Red, Blue and Green. All 3 colours are obviously different and refract light in a different way. Most of the time with a DLP projector, an extra yellow colour will appear above and some extra blue will be projected below an image containing something as simple as a straight black line. In manufacturing LCD projectors can be fixed to minimize these effects on the projected image, as each colour is processed on its own LCD panels.</p>
<p>The sole real benefit (excluding price) with picking a DLP projector is its smaller overall size and weight. However, this is only relevant with regard to mobility and has to be traded off against the image benefits of LCD projectors. If the result of the picture quality is important to you, then the decision is easy. Go with an LCD projector! LCD projectors will consistently create bright, colourful images with fewer image imperfections. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As the Dutch found preeminence in sea power during the 17th century, the early yacht became a leisure craft used initially by royalty and secondly by the burghers in the canals and the protected and unprotected waters of the Low Countries. Racing yachts was incidental, coming out of private challenges. English yachting originated with King Charles II of England during his exile in the Low Countries. On his restoration to the English throne in 1660, the city of Amsterdam presented him with a 20-metre (66-foot) leisure boat with a beam (maximum width) of 5.6 m (18 feet), which he then named Mary. Charles and his brother James, the duke of York (James II, sovereign 1685–88), built additional yachts and in 1662 raced two of them from the Thames, from Greenwich, to Gravesend, and returning, on a Â£100 bet. Yachting rose as fashionable for the rich and royalty, but after that period the fashion did not last.</p>
<p>The first yacht club in the British Isles, the Water Club, was formed at about 1720 at Cork, Ire., as a cruising and unofficial coast guard organization, and had great naval panoply and gravity. The closest thing to racing boats was the “chase,” when the “fleet” pursued a fictional enemy. The club went on, largely as a social club, until 1765, and in 1828, after conglomerating with other organisations, it became the Cork Yacht Club (later the Royal Cork Yacht Club).</p>
<p>Yacht racing was seen in some organized fashion on the Thames about the mid-18th century. The duke of Cumberland funded the Cumberland Fleet for Thames racing in 1775. When George IV rose to sovereignty in 1820, it was then called the Fleet to His Majesty&#8217;s Coronation Sailing Society. The Thames Yacht Club seceded following a racing fight, to become the Royal Thames Yacht Club in 1830. The first English yacht club had been started at Cowes on the Isle of Wight in 1815, and royal sponsorship made the Solent - the strait between the mainland and the Isle of Wight - the continued location of British yachting. The organisation at Cowes became the Royal Yachting Club, again at the accession of George IV. All members were required to have boats of at least 20 tons (20,321 kg). Sailing races for high stakes were held, and the club life was superlative. Ultimately Royal Yachting Club boats increased in size to bigger than 350 tons.</p>
<p>In North America, yachting was first accomplished with the Dutch in New York in the 17th century and persisted when the English held power. Sailing was for the most part for fun and rose to its apogee in George Crowinshield&#8217;s Cleopatra&#8217;s Barge (1815), which traveled on the Mediterranean Sea and set a minimum of luxury and elegance for the later yachts in that area from the late 19th century. The first persisting American yacht organisation, the Detroit Boat Club, was instigated in 1839. In 1844, John C. Stevens began the New York Yacht Club while aboard his schooner Gimcrack.</p>
<p><strong>Kinds of sailboats<br /></strong>Early sailing yachts took the lines of such naval craft as brigantines, schooners, and cutters from the 17th century through the latter half of the 19th century. The design of sizeable yachts was originally largely impacted by the success of America, which was designed by George Steers for a syndicate led by John C. Stevens, and it was the boat for which the America&#8217;s Cup (q.v.) found its namesake after its win at Cowes in 1851. The first yachts were not designed and manufactured in a contemporary sense, with only a model being used. Not until the second half of the 19th century did what was called naval architecture come into being. Not until the 1920s did the employment of the study of aerodynamics do for the craft of sails and rigging what it had done earlier for hulls.</p>
<p>Because most of all sailboats had been individually manufactured, there was a need for handicapping boats as this was previous to the one-design class boats were made. Thus, a rating rule was created, which resulted in the International Rule, adopted in 1906 and revised in 1919. In modern times, one of the rapidly flourishing areas in the sailing industry is that of one-design class boats. All boats in a one-design class are created to the same specifications in length, beam, sail area, and other aspects (for an example of a two-person sailboat, see illustration). Racing these boats can be had on an even par with no handicapping required. A perfect example is the uniform International America&#8217;s Cup Class taken on board for racers in the 1992 America&#8217;s Cup race.</p>
<p>As long as yachting belonged largely for the royal and the rich, money was no problem, and the size of boats developed, in both length and weight. The ascendancy and desire of smaller craft occurred in the second half of the 19th century from the sailing of the Englishmen R.T. McMullen, a stockbroker, and E.F. Knight, a barrister and journalist. A voyage around the world (1895–98) captained single-handedly by the naturalized American captain Joshua Slocum in the 11.3-metre Spray demonstrated the seaworthiness of small yachts. Thereafter in the 20th century, particularly after World War II, smaller racing and pleasure boats became more popular, down to the dinghy, a popular training boat, of 3.7 m. In the late 20th century, craft of less than 3 m were setting sail single-handedly across the Atlantic Ocean.</p>
<p><strong>Kinds of power yachts<br /></strong>Following the decade 1840–50, when steam was set to emulate sail power in commercial boats, the steam engine, and later the internal-combustion engine, were employed increasingly in personal yachts. Bigger power yachts were furthered to a high standard, and long-distance sailing was a fond occupation of the well off. The earliest power yachts were paddle-wheel boats; those then gave way to those powered by the completely submerged screw or propeller kind of propulsion. Like naval and merchant craft, auxiliaries possessing both sail and power were the yacht archetype for a number of years. By the second half of the 20th century, many yachts were still auxiliaries, but the majority were only power yachts with gasoline or diesel engines.</p>
<p>From the last decade of the 19th century there was a rise in the construction of large steam yachts. Notably of these was the Mayflower (1897) of 2,690 tons, containing triple-expansion engines, twin screws, and a compartmented iron hull, and was operated by a crew of over 150. The Mayflower, bought by the United States Navy in 1898, was the official yacht of the president of the United States until 1929 and gave active service in World War II.</p>
<p>As larger and more reliable internal-combustion engines were produced, many large boats started using them for power. The establishment of the diesel engine, with heavy oil for fuel, advanced for World War I. During the decade after, big power-yacht building grew, climaxing in the Orion (1930) at 3,097 tons. From that point the biggest auxiliary yacht built was the four-masted, steel, barque-rigged Sea Cloud (1931) of 2,323 tons.</p>
<p>The manufacture of large power craft fell away in 1932, and the trend after that was in preference of smaller, less expensive craft. After World War II, many small naval craft were sold to private owners for conversion to yachts. By the late 20th century, yachting had become a widespread beloved competition enjoyed by thousands of yachtsmen who are actually sailing and maintaining their own small pleasure boats. The popularity of yachts and sailors is increasing steadily, not only in the traditional places by the sea but also on inland waterways and lakes.</p>
